Facts that you must know about our universe

Facts that you must know about our universe

Even if the world around us has changed significantly in the last twenty years due to tremendous growth in science and technology, there are many fundamental questions about the universe that we haven't solved yet.

There are many scientists and enthusiastic people, organizations around the world trying to solve the mystery of our universe. lots of people assume things about the universe by using common sense or listening to pseudo-scientific stuff. It is necessary for people to know some common facts about our universe so that they won't believe in pseudo-scientific stuff on social media.

1. Universe had a beginning

beginning of universe

Lots of people assume that the universe had no beginning or it was pre-existed forever, but that's not what most scientists believe today. The scientific theory of the beginning of our universe through a big explosion called as 'big bang' is acceptable to the scientific community today. according to this theory, all the matter in our universe was accumulated in a single point, with infinite density, in a comparatively small space. about 13.8 billion years ago, this small point called singularity, exploded and gave birth to our universe.

2. The universe is not steady but expanding

Also, many people assume that our universe is steady, that is, it is not expanding or shrinking. but that's not true anymore. even though scientists used to believe that our universe is steady in the past, in the 1920's astronomer, Edwin Hubble observed that the distance between two galaxies is increasing. scientists based on this observation concluded that our universe is expanding continuously. the reason for the expansion of our universe is a matter for research for scientists today, yet most scientists believe that it is due to a form of energy called dark energy.
Also, we wonder what might be the form of the universe in the initial years of its existence. no wonder the universe was not in the form and substance as it exists today. the universe was in a hot plasma state in its initial years, not even allowing atom formation. about 380,000 years after the big bang, the universe cooled down to a level where atom formation was possible.

3. Universe is not three but four-dimensional

We all know about Albert Einstein, considered one of the greatest physicists of all time. Einstein's most remarkable contribution is the theory of relativity, which described 'time 'as another dimension of our universe. the basic point in this theory was that time is relative and it is not the same in our universe. this theory of relativity has made our universe four-dimensional, contradictory to what most people assume.

4. Universe also contains invisible matter

The universe does contain yet-to-be-understood matter and energy, called dark matter and dark energy. scientists think that the continuous expansion of our universe may be due to dark energy. Scientists knew about dark matter and dark energy due to the contradiction between the total mass of our universe and the total mass of all the visible matter in our universe.
